In the absence of an awareness of what "having" means even giving risks being the exercise of power.

Aha, I see what you mean Owen. Power corrupts, and since we live in a world where "money talks" (i.e. whoever has plenty of it can wield great power), nothing can cause so much corruption to the soul like money can.

Here is my moral concern with Capitalism: it fosters despotism (i.e. allowing the boss to do as he/she pleases, which creates an unequal work environment for everyone else in such a company), and lets parasitism (i.e. those at the top of the company earning the most, while those at the bottom earning "peanuts", as they say) to proliferate via meritocracy (which is hierarchical, thus inherently unequal). That's why I prefer co-operatives or collectives, which provide a platform for co-ownership of a company, foster democracy in the workplace, and are intrinsically mutualistic (i.e. equally beneficial to all who work in such a company).

I should have added a comma after "means". Money is power. It can be used for good as well as evil, but it's still those who have who make the decisions and shape the world for those who have not.
