Hey there guys!

I haven't been writing much recently! Oh well...

I registered at the two Gračac forums you can see on my list of links (Click Gračac Forum and Gracac.net). I registered with my name and surname and you can read my posts there, if you can read Serbo-Croat!

Brian Eno's "An Ending (Ascent)"

I want to share with you a track - or rather a YouTube video that plays it - that is for me personally one of the most beautiful pieces of music and sounds I have ever heard in my life. I've heard this track played so many times on TV programmes, and yet never knew the name of it.

I heard this soundtrack once again on Channel 4, a British TV channel, on a commercial advertising an upcoming programme. So what did I do? I contacted the Channel 4 Help and Support site as I did earlier this year for another soundtrack, which you can listen to here (that one's called Sufjan Stevens Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, another really beautiful piece of music).

So on Thursday, I received the answer to a years-long question, thanks to Channel 4! Then I found it where I would find it, on YouTube, and as I listened to and watched this, tears just poured from my eyes. It's so spiritual and … it just …

So here it is. The music is Brian Eno's An Ending (Ascent) from his 1983 album Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks. And I hope you will like this music just like I do.

Shall I be specific?

Yesterday I heard that one of my relatives is a little upset that I made no mention of her in my blog post on Gračac. It's a first cousin of mine. She read the post in question, but was disappointed that I didn't make any mention of her.

She came to Podkosa in Štikada from Slovenia with her mother to visit us, ie. to see her father and grandmother, and to also see her half-sister whom she saw before and her children (whom I DO mention in the above post!) and me and my mother.

Yes, I forgot to mention that!

Sorry!!!!

I personally enjoyed her company; she's a very smart young woman who can speak Slovenian, Serbo-Croatian, English and German. And I hope we'll meet each other again.

I hope she forgives me now!

PS: I do not mention any of my relatives by name on this blog at all. It's my way of maintaining their privacy.

In Memoriam

Another great singer has died, this time an international one, just four days after one of Bosnia's greatest singers. Luciano Pavarotti, famous for his rendition of Puccini's Nessun Dorma, died at 71, just like Safet Isović recently.

Considering the song Nessun Dorma, Pavarotti is best known for it, and no question as to how amazing his rendition of it was, is now and will continue to be thanks to modern technology keeping it alive, of course! Another singer of opera, Paul Potts, who won the ITV talent show Britain's got talent, has also become famous for singing that same song. And I have his CD which you can buy here online.

Again I say this this month, Rest In Peace.

In Memoriam

I just learnt that one the former Yugoslavia's greatest musical stars, Safet Isović, has died. Here's an article on a Bosnian website in Serbo-Croatian.

Thought I should mention it on this blog, 'cause afterall, he, along with many other singers and actors of his time, represented a generation, ie. the post-WWII Yugoslav generation from the fifties - when he started his career in music - onwards.

On this list of MP3s, you can listen and download numerous songs of his, and here you can find the lyrics to his many songs.

Rest In Peace, or Slava mu/Rahmet mu duši.

Am I surprised?

Saturday has come, but where's my induction day?

I came to the recruitment agency in the early morning, 6:30 (mother drove me). Waited inside, waited outside. Buses came and went, and I didn't get on one of them!

Apparently, I was put down as a spare (I saw the word "SPARE" twice after my name on a list). There was another spare like me, but he went and I didn't.

I was told to come back on Monday and ask a certain person. I forget to ask what time, though!!!
